Gramps' and Elise's Big Adventure

Aunt Bonnie and Uncle Ron celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on September 11. Elise and I decided to make it a day and drove to Union Gap (near Yakima) and visited with some folks I haven't see for awhile.

Aunt Katy, who is my third cousin or something was there and we spent some time getting reacquainted a little. We were comparing memories and one of us is making up some things and forgetting other things. Regardless, we had fun talking.

Also talked to Ron and Bonnie a little as well as Michelle and Melissa.

A little punch and a (small) slice of the cake and it was all good.

As we started back we decided to go a different way since the freeway was so boring. I think what I wanted was Hwy 410 that goes through Mt Rainier national park but we wound up on SR 12, which was probably a better choice. The road went along the Cowlitz river and there was a lot of rafts and kayaks every where.

We had dinner in Morton and then decided it was getting tired out, so we went the shortest way home which was Hwy 7, up through Puyallup.

I think we were gone nine or ten hours, but it was a great day.

(Don't tell anybody but Elise drove about 15 miles. She did really well.)
